It’s too bad the transcription uses the ‘h’ instead of the dot to denote lenition. I think Irish text looks much better with the dots instead of the h’s.
I hate to break it to you, but this is Scottish Gaelic, not Irish Gaelic. Easy test; fàdas to the left equals Scottish Gaelic and fádas to the right equals Irish Gaelic.
Or at least it was when I wrote it.
But as for the dotted letters - I prefer dotted letters when writing the Irish uncial, as in my picture above (in which I missed out a half of the first line and a couple of random words, oops), but not when writing things on-line.
That awkward moment where someone suggests you use buailtes while writing in Roman script…
And then goes on to mistake Gaelic for Irish.
It’s as if plastic paddies want to annoy us…The awkward moment when Irish people mistake Scottish for Irish ¬_¬ THE FÁDA GOES THE OTHER WAY THAN THE GRAVE FOR ONE THING
hate to reblog myself but i think it is actually Irish, the words are all Irish anyway, it might just be the fáda is backwards that muddles it up :S
No, it is definitely Scottish Gaelic. I don’t think the kid who called it Irish was Irish though, I think he’s American.
